Driveways services

Our driveway repairs service

When a driveway sinks in one spot, spreads at an edge or holds water in a hollow, the surface is usually the symptom rather than the cause. We lift the affected area, look at what is underneath, and put the base and the restraint right before relaying. Where blocks are still sound they go back down; where they are broken or the range has been discontinued we will tell you honestly how close a match is available. On tarmac we cut out the failed section square, rather than filling a hole and watching the same patch open up again.

What is included

What you get with driveway repairs

Everything below is part of the quoted price rather than an extra added on afterwards.

  • Lifting the failed area and setting sound blocks aside for reuse
  • Digging out and recompacting the base beneath
  • Replacing or re-haunching edgings that have moved
  • Correcting levels and falls so water runs off instead of ponding
  • Relaying, re-sanding and compacting
  • Square cut-outs and hot tarmac patching on tarmac surfaces

Our process

How it works

  1. 01

    Tell us about the job

Call, message on WhatsApp or send the quote form with your postcode and a rough idea of the area. A photo or two helps us picture it before we arrive.

  2. 02

    We come and measure up

We visit, measure the area, check access for machinery and materials, and look at where surface water currently goes.

  3. 03

    You get a written quote

The price is set out in writing with the materials named, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and compare it against anyone else.

  4. 04

    We book a start date

Once you are happy, we agree a date that suits you and tell you what to expect on site, including where the skip and materials will sit.

  5. 05

    We finish and clear up

The job is finished, the site is swept and cleared, and we walk it with you before we leave.

Why choose us

Why choose us for driveway repairs

  • A family-run team, so you deal with the people doing the work rather than a call centre.
  • The groundwork goes in before the surface, which is what decides how long the job lasts.
  • Driveways, paving, walls, fencing and turf are all in-house, so the levels and finishes line up.
  • A written price with the materials named, so you can compare it properly.

What affects the price

No two jobs price the same. These are the things that move it most:

  • The size of the failed area and how deep the problem goes
  • Whether existing blocks can be reused or new ones are needed
  • Whether edgings and drainage need putting right at the same time
  • How many separate patches there are across the driveway

Areas we cover

We take on driveway repairs across Mansfield, Nottingham, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Alfreton, Heanor, Ilkeston, Shirebrook and Clay Cross.

FAQs

Driveway Repairs FAQs

Why has my block paving sunk in one spot?

Usually because the base under that area was not deep enough or was never properly compacted, or because water is getting in and washing the laying course away. Relaying the blocks without fixing that means it sinks again.

Will a repair match the rest of the driveway?

The existing blocks will have weathered, so a repair with new blocks will show at first even in the same range. Where possible we reuse the lifted blocks in the visible area and put any new ones somewhere less obvious.

Is it worth repairing or should I replace it?

If the problem is one or two areas, a repair is the sensible option. If the base has failed across the whole driveway, patching it repeatedly costs more than doing it once. We will tell you which we think you are looking at.
