Driveways services
Our tarmac driveways service
Tarmac is laid hot onto a compacted sub-base and rolled while it is still workable, which is what gives it a tight, sealed surface. The edges are where tarmac usually fails, so we set concrete-haunched edgings or a block paved border before the surface goes down rather than relying on the tarmac to hold its own edge. Falls are worked out beforehand, because once tarmac is rolled the levels are fixed.

What is included
What you get with tarmac driveways
Everything below is part of the quoted price rather than an extra added on afterwards.
- Excavation and compacted sub-base
- Edgings or a block paved border set in concrete
- Base course and wearing course laid hot and rolled
- Falls set to move surface water off the driveway
- Ironwork, gullies and covers raised or reset to the finished level
- Joints sealed where the new surface meets existing tarmac or the pavement
Our process
How it works
- 01
Tell us about the job
Call, message on WhatsApp or send the quote form with your postcode and a rough idea of the area. A photo or two helps us picture it before we arrive.
- 02
We come and measure up
We visit, measure the area, check access for machinery and materials, and look at where surface water currently goes.
- 03
You get a written quote
The price is set out in writing with the materials named, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and compare it against anyone else.
- 04
We book a start date
Once you are happy, we agree a date that suits you and tell you what to expect on site, including where the skip and materials will sit.
- 05
We finish and clear up
The job is finished, the site is swept and cleared, and we walk it with you before we leave.
Why choose us
Why choose us for tarmac driveways
- A family-run team, so you deal with the people doing the work rather than a call centre.
- The groundwork goes in before the surface, which is what decides how long the job lasts.
- Driveways, paving, walls, fencing and turf are all in-house, so the levels and finishes line up.
- A written price with the materials named, so you can compare it properly.
What affects the price
No two jobs price the same. These are the things that move it most:
- Area, and whether the existing surface can stay as a base or has to come out
- The depth of tarmac the use of the driveway calls for
- Block borders, kerbs or edgings
- Access for the wagon and the roller
- Drainage work and any ironwork that has to be reset
Areas we cover
We take on tarmac driveways across Mansfield, Nottingham, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Alfreton, Heanor, Ilkeston, Shirebrook and Clay Cross.
